HISTORY
Dawns life far extends the age she looks. Previously, Dawn was a being called The Key. A mystical green ball of living energy that had the power to open a portal linked to all dimensions. If the portal was ever opened, it would create chaos on earth as hell dimensions would flood into this world until the energy was used up and the portal closed once again. A group of Czech monks, the Order of Dagon, had possession of the key for awhile. They were its guardians. They wanted to put The Key to good use, but over time the forces of darkness tracked them down. One being a hell-god, Glory. Glory had been cast out of her dimension for being too vicious. With the use of The Key she planned on returning to it. But as Glory pounded at the doors of their location, the monks had been performing a ritual. It was a act of desperation but it was done. With the use of powerful magic, and a part of Buffy to be the basic construct, the monks transformed The Key. They gave The Key human form. The form of Dawn Summers. A fourteen year old girl sent to the Slayer as a sister for protection against Glory.
Dawn first showed up in Buffys life after her battle with Dracula. Buffy had already known who she was. The monks had imbuded artficial memories of her existance to everyone who had ever met Buffy and had gotten close enough to her. Only those "outside of reality" can see what she is. Meaning people such as the mentally insane. They see her as a bright green light.
Supposedly Dawn was born in 1986 to Joyce and Hank Summers in Los Angeles, California. She has knowledge of everything that has happened in Buffys past. Such as her being the slayer in L.A. Her fight with the Master. Her relationship with Angel and how Angel for a brief period of time became Angelus- something she hopes never comes back. She knows of it all.
Dawn didn't find out about her mystical origins till later on when she had snuck out with Spike to go to the Magic Box. Spike had been reading Gile's journal out-loud when Dawn heard the news. This news caused her to go into shock. She had even cut herself, burned all of her diaries and ran away from home. Buffy had assured her though that they were sisters, and things had gotten better for a little while. Calmer. But then her mother suddenly died from a brain aneurysm. This devastated Dawn. She almost used a spell to bring her back to life but she stopped it at the last moment.
When Glory finds "The Key", she thinks it is Tara. But when she found out that it wasn't she sucked the sanity out of Tara. Dawn was forced into hiding with Spike. She admitted to him that she blamed herself for this. For everything. She was a "lightning rod" of pain, in her own words.
With Glory unsuccessful and still searching, things had quieted down. Until one day when Dawn, Buffy and Willow were with Tara. Glory had burst in breaking the wall, and Tara was suddenly describing Dawn as a "bright green light". Glory finally found her key. And after a long series of events Glory kidnapped her and tethered her atop of the tower that was built by the people Glory had mind sucked. At the time that everything was in place, Dawn was cut and her blood as it dripped down onto the pavement opened up the portal. Dimensions were spilling into eachother. It would become hell on earth.
Buffy had got up to the tower. Few words were exchanged. Dawn had been willing to sacrafice herself to save the world. But Buffy stopped her. Telling her that "the hardest thing to do in this world is to live in it". It was then that Buffy jumped off the towers bridge, sacraficing her own life to save the world.
Dawn remembers nothing of her life as The Key. Whatever happened while she was it she can't recall for the life of her. She is only, technically a few months old. Having been transformed into a human not that long ago.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Dawns life is heading down a bad road at the moment. Her sisters death was hard on her. And the fact that she's not real is just as hard to cope with. Depending on the characters she meets in the roleplay here her life could continue to go down with or without the help of another. She could pick up bad habits such as smoking, drugs, or even vampirism? All depending on the characters she meets. Dawn needs help. Someone to lean on. If she meets the right person to help her than her life could start to get better. Since she is Buffys younger sister and the friend of the scoobies anything that happens to her would most likely cause trouble.

Hot pink. Dark shadowed green. These colors were mixed over the surface of the short skirt. Light creamy white lines stretched between each square of color, giving it a plaid look. Plaid wasn't normally her choice pattern, but this skirt pulled off the look and made it fashionable instead of gross.
Dawn knew she wanted it, but her eyes remained locked on it as if she were having a staring contest with it. Her gaze was not forceful. It was solemn. Intense. Depression was clearly shown in the depths of her eyes. Not even the depths. She was sure that if someone took one glance at her that they'd know something was up.
The adolescent teenager sat in the stall of the womans dressing room at Ambercrombie and Finch. This was one of the only times that she'd actually let how she was feeling come to the surface. It had been bubbling up inside of her for so long. She felt like she was going to burst.
Buffy... Buffy was dead because of her. Her mother was dead because of her. If she had never come into existance both of them would be here today. Tara would have never got her mind sucked. Spike wouldn't have been tortured. Who knew what else could have been prevented if she had never come into their lives.
Dawn felt sick. Her stomach churning with uneasyness. She missed her sister. It had only been three weeks since her death. The first one had been the hardest. Burying her... She had wished that her sister would drop dead and die sometimes when she was in fights with her or pissed because of something small and overall insignificant. But actually having to bury her...
Her guilt was unbearable. Dawn never confronted the others with these feelings. She felt like they were growing more and more distant from her as the days went on.
Did they blame her for their friends death?
The thought only increased the sickness brewing inside of her. Dawn felt like she was going to puke. But she didn't. Different emotions flashed through her eyes but her face had remained steady. Tears had begun to form in her green eyes.
If they did... she knew that she couldn't blame them. Hell she blamed herself! That day that Buffy jumped. Dawn should have. She had been ready too. But Buffy had stunned her. She had reached out to stop her but it was too late. Buffy was gone.
The tear that had been threatening to fall finally slid down her cheek. A few others had begun to but Dawn wiped her eyes quickly. Eyeliner and mascara faintly smeared the back of her powder blue sleeves but she could care less.
Dismissing these thoughts, she placed the hand she had just used on the wall for support as she pushed herself to her feet. She took the short skirt and stuffed it in her violet colored school bag, pushing it down deep inside. She hoped it wouldn't cause suspicioun.
Turning to the wall mirror, Dawn gathered herself. Making sure she looked presentable. Once she re-applied her makeup, getting rid of the smudge marks the best she could, Dawn studied her reflection.
One last touch...
The corners of Dawns rosey pink lips pulled into a smile. It was small but it was a inconspicious smile. One that made her look happy. The smile even fooled herself
Taking a quiet breathe, Dawn turned to the dressing room door and unlocked it. She slipped out. Heading out of the store and into the night.
